Would You Prefer To Have Been Born Hundreds of Years Earlier or Later?
I used to often wish that I had been born years earlier. That way, I might have been the one to develop search engines or social media; or I could ‘Buy and Hold Bitcoin,’ and get rich overnight; or I might have been involved in those important events recorded in history books, becoming a mover of history.
However, I no longer envy those from the past because I realized that people in every era have their own unique opportunities. Twenty years ago, the biggest business opportunity was the Internet; now, the biggest business opportunity is AI. The tech giants of the future may well be emerging from the AI startups of today. Everyone in each era has opportunities and important things worth doing. Moreover, I have some health problems that would be hard to manage without modern medicine. If I had been born a hundred years earlier, I might already have died from the disease.
But now I find myself envying those in the future again. Although human technology is quite advanced now, it’s still far from enough. Perhaps in the future, we could invent quantum…
