This is an incredibly convoluted and bizarre story that reads like a novel, but it indeed unfolded in reality.

A veteran, holding millions in assets, could have lived a wealthy life.

However, he became obsessed with cryptocurrency, and as a result, he lost all his money and incurred a substantial debt.

After bankruptcy, his social media activities indicated he was utterly defeated, exhibiting signs of mental instability.

Finally, he chose to illegally cross from Mexico into the United States, was detained in an immigration facility, and struggled to survive in the U.S.

In 2016, a netizen on Zhihu (a Chinese Q&A website similar to Quora) posed a serious question: “My parents passed away unexpectedly, leaving me an inheritance of 6,000,000 Yuan (roughly 1,000,000 USD). How should I manage this money?”

Well, it’s a grave question, and if it were you, how would you respond?

Yunxiao Wang replied: “Never trust those who DM you on social media offering to help manage your finances; they’re all scammers.”
